About Us

How We Work

FIRM offers customized consulting solutions to a wide variety of Kenyan partners, including the private sector and the government of Kenya. For the private sector, we enter into a partnership agreement (a contract) with non-disclosures, confidentiality agreements and specific deliverables tied to measureable outcomes.
From there, we generally begin work on strategy first and then we move to support operationalizing those strategies which often leads to specific product development. As strategies produce quantifiable results for the partner, we are often called upon to help upgrade internal systems and business functions (governance, human resource management, MIS/ICT, accounting/finance, treasury, etc.), to raise additional capital or to source US government loan guarantees to keep pace with growth in new clientele, income and profitability.

With the government of Kenya, we respond to specific needs upon their request, drawing upon a deep pool of highly qualified Kenyan and international experts. In clean/renewable energy and water, FIRM does not have a geographic focus and we work through a growing array of financial services providers that includes banks, MFIs, SACCOs, financial service associations (FSAs), community-based organizations (CBOs) and water boards

Where We Work

FIRM works throughout Kenya in each and every of the country’s 47 counties through a large and growing network of local partners and institutions. Under Feed the Future, we focus on 27 counties primarily located in Nyanza, Western, Rift, Eastern and Taita Taveta provinces.

However, the consulting we deliver in agricultural finance to banks, MFIs, SACCOs and other providers of financial services does not restrict them to offer their products beyond Feed the Future borders. The majority of our partners have expansive branch and agency networks throughout Kenya or they have plans to enlarge their geographic presence to capitalize on increasing opportunities in underserved rural areas.

In clean/renewable energy and water, FIRM does not have a geographic focus and we work through a growing array of financial services providers that includes banks, MFIs, SACCOs, financial service associations (FSAs), community-based organizations (CBOs) and water boards.

FIRM continues to add partners and facilitate geographic coverage across these sectors (agriculture, clean/renewable energy and water) that are critical to Kenya’s sustained economic growth under Vision 2030, the country’s development blueprint.
